Turn a sales order into a transport brief
A shop selling building materials should separate the product sale from the delivery arrangement. Give the Agent item descriptions, quantities, packaging and reliable weights. Cement bags, tiles and long roofing sheets have different handling and vehicle requirements.
Ask the customer about site access, unloading space and the person receiving the materials. A plot location may not provide a safe truck entrance. Confirm road conditions and any need for extra handling before asking a driver to quote.
Explain responsibilities and charges
Identify who supplies loading labour, unloading help and protective packaging. Do not promise that the driver will carry everything into the site unless this is agreed. For heavy or specialist materials, ask the operator to confirm equipment and load suitability.
