Measure the appliance and the route
Record height, width, depth and approximate weight, then measure doors, corridors, lifts and stair turns. A refrigerator may fit the truck but fail to pass through the destination doorway.

Prepare before lifting
Empty and clean refrigerators and washing machines. Remove or secure shelves, trays, hoses, cables and loose accessories. Protect corners and screens with suitable padding; do not place adhesive directly on a delicate finish unless the manufacturer permits it.
Keep the original packaging where possible. For televisions, use a rigid screen-safe carton and identify the correct upright orientation.
Load and secure correctly
Use a trolley and enough people for the weight. Appliances should not be dragged by doors, controls, pipes or power cables. Secure them against movement while avoiding straps across weak panels.
Keep refrigerators and washing machines in the manufacturer-recommended transport position. If an appliance has been tilted, follow its manual for the required settling time before power is restored.
Inspect before installation
Check the casing, screen, glass, hoses and accessories while the movers are present. Photograph any visible concern and confirm the item count. Do not connect damaged electrical equipment until it has been assessed safely.
